Go Girls Foundation Graduation Ceremony
I recently was very grateful to be invited to attend the Go Girls Foundation graduation ceremony. 
Held at Hellenic Republic in Kew, the food was fabulous, the company enlightening and the graduates truly inspiring.
Go Girls ran a program for 14 unemployed Melbourne women and victims of domestic violence to formulate a plan for thei r future life, grow self esteem, help them write a resume, coach them on dress and personal presentation and successful interview techniques to impress employers.
We heard two heartfelt, inspirational and humbling speeches from graduates. One 19 year old woman and the other a career Mum who’s kids have moved out wanting to re-enter the workforce. Although only recently graduated, several of the 14 women had already secured work. Several people on my table shed a tear when they heard how beneficial the program had been for these women and how much happiness was in the room. A real sense of pride was very genuine when each woman was presented with their graduation certificates.
Many potential employers were present in the room and I encourage anyone wanting to empower and assist women to improve their circumstances and life in general to find out more about Go Girls and engage with the organisation. Not for profit, they need your help. Could you offer a job? Could you donate funds to assist them to complete more good work?
So, I went home and went through my wardrobe to donate some suits and clothes that are job interview appropriate. Many of our Key Update readers could do this and I urge you to do it.
With tax time coming, would you consider a donation. I was sitting with Ms Amanda Castricum from Mazars Accountants and she promptly commented that this is tax deductible for a registered charitable foundation. Next month is June, so if you had a good year, please consider “giving back”.
Homelessness and unemployment are not lifestyle choices for these 14 women and I wish them luck for a bright future.
