Dangerous gas heaters must not be used
A warning has been issued by Energy Victoria that dangerous gas heaters must not be used. If you own a property that has a Vulcan Heritage or a Pyrox Heritage gas heater do not use them until they are tested by a qualified gas fitter.
Climate Technologies, who manufacture the heaters has a program in place to test every household with one of these heaters.

If you have elderly relatives in your family, we urge you to check their gas heaters and help them to turn off the appliance until it can be deemed safe or replaced. This is really important as we believe there was a death last year that has highlighted this problem.

A property that I own recently was checked and the heat exchanger in the gas wall furnace had cracked. The appliance had to be urgently decommissioned as it could not be repaired. When buying older properties for investors at the moment, our Buyers Agents are looking out for these brands of heaters, knowing they need to either inform our buyer that they will need to upgrade the heating unit or at very least, not use it until a licensed gasfitter says it is safe.
