What’s the difference between investment advice and property marketing?
Three industry experts form a panel for discussion at the REIV Buyers Agent Forum taking place on Wednesday August 14th from 2pm to 5pm.
As Chairperson of the Buyers Agent Chapter at the REIV, I have been invited to be one of three expert panelists at this forum. I am very pleased to be representing the Buyers Agents opinions and those of Victorian Estate Agents at this discussion.
The whole property development and off the plan sale space lacks definition and this discussion will be robust. Up for debate are key issues Buyers Agents are facing in the industry today when purchasing properties for investors.
Ben Kingsley, Chairperson of Property Investment Industry Association and Kate Metz, Senior Manager with Australia Securities and Investments Commission will also be on the discussion panel. They bring a wealth of knowledge and will happily answer questions and share with attendees.
Buying property can be a very confusing experience for a buyer, especially if they only buy property infrequently. Who should they trust? Where can they access legitimate information? Is the price fair? Is the asking price too high? Who can help me? Is data my friend or foe?
One thing I can advise buyers is that if they are not paying for advice, then maybe they should be. Free advice is often conflicted. I advise property investors to ask themselves a few simple questions. “Why are they helping me?” What do they get out of helping me? Sometimes this puts a buyer on the right path to getting constructive advice and help. Too many people rely on friends and family for advice on property investments. This can be really expensive. Everyone has something to say about property, however they may not know what will deliver outcomes for you.
It promises to be an interesting afternoon so please register online for the event now or email events@reiv.com.au. For all further enquiries, please contact Erin Livingston at the REIV on 9205 6666. We look forward to seeing you there!
